A driver's license is a public document issued by a competent state body and which proves the right to drive a certain category or type of vehicle.

A driver's license is issued at the request of a person who has passed the driving test.
Issuance of the first driver's license:
To be issued with the first driver's license, you will need:
request
certificate of the person's medical fitness to drive a motor vehicle of the category or subcategory for which the driver's license is requested, which cannot be older than 12 months,
certificate of passing the driving test for driving a motor vehicle of the category or subcategory for which the driver's license is requested, not older than three months,
proof of residence or temporary residence (by viewing the ID card),
proof of approved stay of a foreign citizen,
proof of payment of the prescribed fee for the driver's license form, in the amount of 60.00 KM
Extending the validity of a driver's license:
request,
driver's license whose validity period has expired,
proof of payment of the prescribed fee for the driver's license form, in the amount of 60.00 KM a driver of a motor vehicle whose driver's license was issued with a shorter validity period must,
along with the request for extension of the driver's license validity, also submit a certificate of medical fitness to drive a motor vehicle of that category or subcategory, which must not be older than 6 months,
a driver who has been issued a driver's license for driving a motor vehicle of category "D" or subcategory "D1", upon each extension of the driver's license validity, must also submit a certificate of medical fitness to drive a motor vehicle of that category or subcategory, which must not be older than 6 months.
Replacement of a driving license:
A driving license is replaced in cases of registration of a new category or subcategory, change of any data contained in the driving license, and in case of its damage, deterioration or disappearance.
To replace a driving license you need:
claim,
proof that the person published the missing driver's license as an invalid document in the "Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina" or "Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina",
worn out or damaged driver's license, the replacement of which is requested,
proof of data modification
proof of payment of the prescribed fee for the driver's license form, in the amount of 60.00 KM
Replacing a foreign driving license:
request
certificate of health fitness of the person to drive a motor vehicle of the category or subcategory for which the driving license is requested, which cannot be older than 6 months,
valid foreign driving license, original, with a certified translation by a court translator,
ID card of a citizen of BiH, ID card for foreigners or proof of approved temporary residence, refugee card (certified photocopy), subsidiary protection card (certified photocopy) or proof of approved temporary residence (certified photocopy of the decision),
proof of payment of the prescribed fee for the driving license form, in the amount of 60.00 KM
